What is Guitarschools?

Guitarschools was set up by David Taylor in 1988 to provide a flexible and relaxed learning environment for students of all ages and abilities.

An experienced, professional, David Taylor has been teaching the guitar in and around Northamptonshire for more than 20 years. He is well known in local schools and teaches privately from his home in the peaceful surroundings of rural Northamptonshire. He is also the founder of Rockschools and his unique teaching methods inspire people from all musical walks of life.

With a firm belief in a flexible and relaxed learning environment, David Taylor has a natural ability to inspire all ages and abilities and students consistently out-perform their own expectations under his and his colleagues' gentle guidance.

Personal preferences are encouraged; students can focus on Classical Guitar, Acoustic Guitar, Electric Guitar or Electric Bass Guitar, or become versatile with all of them.

All genres of music are offered, Rock, Pop, Classical, Jazz, and many students opt to take exams to mark their progress. Guitarschools uses the Exam Board of Trinity College for the classical guitar, and Rockschool exams for Electric Guitar and Electric Bass Guitar. Aural training is offered and general musicianship is seamlessly incorporated into lessons.

All students are encouraged to take part in concerts and competitions and to play in groups ranging from duos to large bands. This helps them to grow in confidence and musicianship and to develop strong performance skills. Guitarschools students are given the opportunity to explore other musical avenues such as singing and Rockschools and most take up one or more of these options.
